The Seattle Seahawks only have three picks heading into the NFL Draft, while the rest of the teams in the league have 8 to 10, but head coach Pete Carroll says his team already has their №1 pick.
While speaking to reporters this week, Carroll threw his weight behind safety Jamal Adams, who was acquired in the offseason in a major trade with the New York Jets that saw the Seahawks part with first- and third-round picks in this year’s draft.
NFL DRAFT PROSPECTS SHOULD AVOID TALKING POLITICS, FORMER AUBURN COACH SEN. TOMMY TUBERVILLE SAYS
“I would say, about the draft, our №1 pick is Jamal Adams, and that’s a heck of a pick,” he said according to the team’s website. “He had a really good year leading into getting drafted by us №1, and it would have cost us another №1 to get that done, that incredible of a football player we saw last year, and we’re really excited about the future too.”
The Jets traded Adams after both sides failed to reach an agreement during contract negotiations. He will be entering his fifth-year option in Seattle but there’s been no word on a possible contract extension, which is worrisome considering what the Seahawks gave up for him.

General manager John Schneider addressed those concerns during the press conference with Carroll saying they “absolutely” view Adams as a long-term part of their defense.
“We’re going to be celebrating Jamal tomorrow evening,” he said referring to draft night. “We want him to be a longtime for sure. He’s a great player. We’re glad we made the trade to get him, and he’s going to be a very important part of our future.”

Adams totaled 9.5 sacks in 12 games for the Seahawks, setting an NFL record for most sacks in a season by a defensive back.

Schneider said there’s no indication yet if Adams will play on his fifth-year option.
“No, we’re not into that yet, no.”

I thought I’d miss football after deciding to write it off before the last season. Turns out I didn’t miss it at all. Wonder if the NFL realizes how easy it is to do other things besides consume their product.

Isn’t this the coach that called a pass play on the 1 yard line on 2nd down in the final minute of the super bowl when he had one of, if not the, best running back in the NFL? Passed picked off. They lose the super bowl. Chew away Pete.

Good way to look at it. Got a pro bowler in return for a late 1st rounder.

A Pro Bowler Safety that will cost a lot of money. He will take up a big percent of their salary cap if they resign him …. for a first round pick this year and a first round pick next year plus a third round pick this year. Also he may leave as a free agent next year …. So yeah great trade…

Carroll’s attitude has got to be upsetting to Wilson. What he is basically saying is “yeah, our QB may be on his back a lot but doesn’t Adams look great”.

I hope that when the season starts that Seattle makes all of their fans wear a mask so they take away their best weapon, crowd noise. I just love it when Liberals hamstring themselves.

Their best weapon is Russell Wilson. He got them to the playoffs without a crowd

Nobody in the West has a #1 pick next year except AZ. so Seattle is in fine company.

They always trade their first pick anyway and will probably have at least 3 comp picks to add on

These are the smart trades….why waste the pick on a gamble college draft when you can pick up a proven player. When I see these trades, I see smart GM’s.

by drafting, you pay bottom dollar toward the hard salary cap… by trading, you pay exorbitant dollars toward the cap, and have to release a bunch of other good players to get back under the cap.

Sounds like you were the GM for the Vikings in the Hershel Walker trade.
You see a GM who trades all their draft picks, you’re looking at guy who’ll be looking for a job soon.

Schneider has got to go!
When the Seahawks won the Superbowl (circa 1912), they had the highest paid Offensive line. Now, they continue to have a revolving door of Offensive line players. Russell can’t always be expected to run for his life. Now they only have 3 picks while everyone else had 8? Umm, I’ve never been much of a statistics guy but poor Russell is already behind the 8 ball.

Hey Pete, you might want to look at some of the black looters on the news. Some appear to run pretty well…
